Offroad Tuition

As a progressive School of Motoring, ALAN'S is aware of the desire of under 17's to want to start learning how to drive and control a car properly. We recognise also it is often the parents choice to ensure their children have the best possible introduction to driving!

For £75.00, an under 17 can be accompanied by an Approved Driving Instructor for 3 hours in a dual controlled car. He or she will be taught the basic skills of operating the car controls that constitute safe and responsible driving.

At the safe off-road location the student will be given hands on experience in carrying out safety procedures of starting the car, moving off, gear changing, stopping the car, parking against a kerb and in parking bays, emergency breaking, reversing, and as much information generally about driving, lessons, test, etc., that the student can absorb. If time allows, instruction will be offered on general vehicle maintenance, e.g. how to check oil, and water levels, inspect tyres and lights etc.

We use a regular venue, but if you prefer we can arrange a collection and return service for you. In these instances, the commuting time is gainfully used - not only in getting acquainted - but also the Instructor will narrate on on road signs and markings, what a driver should be looking at and what situations may develop ahead, how he is controlling the speed etc. (On the return journey, see if you can spot his/her deliberate (but safe) mistakes!) By enrolling on this educational off-road session you will be at the forefront of driving skills development, so that when you receive you provisional driving license after your 17th birthday, you may even save time and money on your early "proper" lessons.

Although we call ourselves the friendly professionals, if you are shy or prefer to have a friend that would like to share the same experience as you, we will reduce the fee to £100.00 for both of you. It really is a friendly and novel way to learn.
